About José's Work
“All the Fights!” is a scrappy stage combat experiment. A conglomeration of fight theatre research over 10 years, borrowing from Hollywood stunts and video games. Investigating how to increase the perceived weight and percussive power of strikes through padding, sound editing, and manipulating time. There will be sweat, there will be many weapons, there will likely be a knife fight choreographed to rock music. “All the Fights!” aims to present sophisticated stage combat techniques in an accessible, entertaining fashion. It will feel almost as if they gave a well-funded movement residency to a person who still plays with action figures.
